| Learn about Online MBCT (video 3 minutes) |
| Video transcript |
| Hello. I’m Sarah Housser from The Mindfulness Clinic. I would like to tell you about our online Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy groups, called MBCT for short.
MBCT combines meditation with the best of modern psychotherapy to help you with problems in your life. Our online groups are designed for people who want to learn from the comfort and convenience of their own homes, or who, for whatever reason, can’t come to the groups that we offer in downtown Toronto. What you see on the screen now is what you would see if you were a member of one of our online groups. It’s very easy to log in from your end so that you can participate in the group. Group members can see and hear the group leader and the other members of the group. For now, you don’t have to worry about the details of how to use your computer to do this, we will show you how before the group starts. The good news is our online groups are as effective as MBCT at the office. So, if you do an online group, it will still be possible for you to get the full benefit of the training. People are often surprised at how much of a connection they can make with the group and its members when they do it online. Our online Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy groups can be very helpful for people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress and other difficulties. If you participate in the group we will teach you how to use mindfulness meditation and cognitive therapy techniques to help you cope with your problems and make positive changes for your life. The techniques that you will learn are based on very solid research and you can trust that they will make a useful difference for you. Classes are held once a week for 9 weeks. Each class is 2 hours long, and has a maximum of 7 participants. If you decide to join the group it will be very important that you make a commitment to yourself to spend 45 minutes a day practicing the mindfulness techniques that we teach. These techniques can be very helpful, but you will have to practice them in order to get the full benefit of the training. If you don’t think that you can set this much time aside for practice, then the group is probably not right for you at this time. The cost of the group is $700. We will provide a receipt, and if you have insurance coverage for psychological services you will probably be able to get reimbursed. The fee includes participation in the classes as well as CDs, MP3 files and other training materials. If you would like to sign up for the group or if you would just like more information about the groups, please call me or send me an email. |
